Tolls on the St. Lawrence Seaway will increase 3 percent this year, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corp. said.
The SLSMC said tolls on the Seaway have been frozen for five years and that the increase “underscores the SLSMC’s determination to maintain the positive momentum generated by its market development initiatives.”
The amount of cargo shipped on the Seaway, which includes the Welland Canal, rose 4 percent last year. The new navigation season is set to begin Friday.
