NORTH TONAWANDA – Goodwill Industries has opened a new store, its tenth, in an old Fashion Bug shop at the Mid-City Plaza on Payne Avenue.

“It was really too good to pass up,” said Thomas Lynch, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Western New York. “It’s a great location, and the store inside is a little more upscale than what we’re used to. So it was a good deal for everybody.”

Goodwill, which serves the region’s eight counties, will open another new store in a former Fashion Bug shop in Batavia at the end of next month.

Retail, said Lynch, is the “cornerstone of what we’re built on.”

Revenues from the Goodwill stores support classes for high school equivalency diplomas and an expanding veterans services program, as well as its more well-known workshop employment for people with disabilities.

The new store on Payne Avenue will be open every day of the week. Hours from Monday through Friday will be 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the store will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays.
