Kenmore resident Thomas J. Reigstad, a lifelong Mark Twain aficionado and scholar, will speak about his new book on Twain, “Scribblin’ for a Livin’,” at 7:15 p.m. today in the Tonawanda-Kenmore Historical Society, 100 Knoche Road.

The book focuses on the pivotal year-and-a-half Twain spent in Buffalo beginning in mid-August 1869, in which the author and humorist arrived a bachelor and left a married man with an infant son. Reigstad, a professor emeritus of English at SUNY Buffalo State, challenges the long-held belief that Twain’s time here was a grim chapter in his life.

The event is free and open to the public.
