LOCKPORT – The committee working on a Fallen Heroes Memorial for Lockport said it hopes to be able to use the city’s online bill-paying system to take donations, once the city’s website is expanded to include a page for the project.
In a meeting Tuesday at the memorial site in Outwater Park, the panel decided to discuss a detailed design in the next three weeks with landscape architects for Stedman Nursery in Newfane, which has suggested a circular memorial area around a nonfunctioning fountain. Alderwoman Kathryn J. “Kitty” Fogle said it’s likely there will not be “a water feature,” but a flagpole will be in the center where the fountain now is located.
Alderman Kenneth M. Genewick said the goal is have the memorial under construction by this fall.
