NORTH TONAWANDA – The state Department of Financial Services will deploy a mobile command center to North Tonawanda City Hall, 216 Payne Ave., to assist people who were affected by the recent floods in the area.
The unit will be at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and will assist those who were affected by flooding with filling out applications and assessing damages.
North Tonawanda Mayor Robert G. Ortt said a number of residents in his city sustained significant damage due to the thunderstorms this past Friday.
The command center had previously set up in Niagara Falls on Wednesday and today. State flood relief workers also responded to the Lockport area on Sunday through Tuesday which was heavily damaged in the June 28 flash flood.
“I thank Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo for making these mobile command centers available to our community and encourage anyone affected by the flooding to come and get assistance,” said Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-Lewiston. “You do not have to be a resident of North Tonawanda to take part.”
Ceretto said residents should be sure to bring documentations of damages, such as photographs, to make the process as fast as possible.
“The faster damages are reported, the faster we can deliver aid to those affected,” Ceretto said.
