INDIANAPOLIS -- Circumstances out of EJ Manuel's control made sure he would be the starting quarterback in his NFL debut.
Now Manuel can help the Buffalo Bills make up their minds for the regular-season, too.
Manuel will start this afternoon's exhibition opener against the Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium. He has a striking opportunity to take a lead over veteran quarterback Kevin Kolb and never look back.
Kolb missed more than a week's worth of practices because of a knee injury and a death in the family. Manuel got all of the first-team practice reps in Kolb's absence. Bills coach Doug Marrone indicated Kolb wouldn't see any meaningful action today.
