The New York State Police have named Michael J. Cerretto, 48, as the new commander of Troop A, which covers Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara, Orleans and Wyoming counties.
A veteran of the United States Navy, Cerretto has been with the state police for over 26 years, starting as a uniform trooper in Troop E’s Monroe County.
Cerretto is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. He has been acting troop commander since June.
