Street performers from around the world will descend on a stretch of asphalt in Niagara Falls, Ont., this weekend for the Niagara Falls Buskerfest, a weekend-long tribute to the ancient art of sidewalk entertainment. The festival, which features some 50 performers, kicks off at 5 p.m. Friday and runs through 9 p.m. Sunday in and around the city’s Queen Street Arts and Culture District.

The festival, now in its third year under the direction of Lyndesfarne Theatre Projects, was relocated to Niagara Falls last year from its original location in St. Catharines, Ont. The performers, including a young tap-dancing trumpet player from San Francisco, a singer who impersonates Frank Sinatra and all manner of circus acts, will perform on three “pitches,” or stages, spread across the culture district. The centerpiece of the event is a “Late Night Adult Cabaret” held at 10 p.m. Saturday in the Seneca Queen Theatre (4624 Queen St.), for which tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. The rest of the event is free, with more info at (905) 357-8822 or www.ltpniagara.com.
