Neighbors opposed to a planned senior rental community on Youngs Road in Amherst are expected to turn out tonight at a public hearing at the Amherst Municipal Building.

Young Development Inc. has proposed turning a wooded plot between Renaissance Drive and Treebrooke Court into three 3-story buildings with a total of 99 units, according to a site plan. The plan also calls for parking lots and four garage/storage structures, each with 11 units.

In 2010 the land at 1055 Youngs Road was sold by St. Stephens Byzantine Catholic Church of Amherst to 1055 Youngs Road Llc for $360,000, according to real estate records.

Neighbors are concerned about the loss of the woods and too much development of the area, according to Treebrooke Court resident Lance R. Konkle.

The hearing begins at 7 p.m. at 5583 Main Street, Williamsville.
