JAVA – Authorities say a Sardinia man’s blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit when he pointed a gun at police who confronted him while he was hunting in Wyoming County.
The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office said John M. Smith, 44, was hunting on private property Saturday in the town of Java.
Officials said he pointed his gun at deputies, who determined he was intoxicated and called state Department of Environmental Conservation police.
Authorities said Smith had a blood alcohol content of 0.27 percent.
He is appear in town court in December to answer to the charges.
