NIAGARA FALLS – The Niagara County Health Department will hold a free flu shot clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 17 at Heart, Love and Soul, a food pantry at 939 Ontario Ave.

Elaine Roman, director of public health planning and emergency preparedness, said the Health Department has 75 doses of flu vaccine left over from a Nov. 1 clinic and emergency drill that was held at Niagara County Community College.

“If they’re hungry and coming for food,” Roman said, the flu shots “give us a chance to prevent the spread of disease in the community.”

The soup kitchen is signing up its clientele as they arrive, and anybody else interested in the free vaccinations may call 282-5681 for more information.

Thursday’s announcement came as the Board of Health voted to raise the administrative fee for all other immunizations at its clinics to $30 from $25.
