The dates for Nickel City Chef, Buffalo’s live cooking battle series, have been announced. Challenging chefs will go head to head at 3 p.m. on four Sundays: Feb. 23, March 9, March 23 and April 6.
Up-and-coming chefs from locally owned restaurants have an hour to outdo the home team – Bacchus’ Brian Mietus, Mansion on Delaware’s Jennifer Boye, Craving’s Adam Goetz and Torches’ JJ Richert – in the exploitation of a secret, locally produced ingredient. It’s held in the second floor showroom of Artisan Kitchens, 200 Amherst St.
Individual tickets for $40 go on sale Jan. 4 through nickelcitychef.com. They sell out quickly, so don’t assume you can buy them Jan. 5.
...
Growing: Sun Restaurant Buffalo, the city’s first Burmese restaurant, has filed plans with the city to add more room at 1989 Niagara St. The restaurant aims to add a 900-square-foot one-story expansion, to increase its seating to 99 and add kitchen, freezer and storage space, according to a planning board agenda.
