Brandon M. Sponaugle, 21, was arrested while walking on Sanderson Road in the Town of Shelby. Deputies said he had been driving north on Route 63 in the Town of Alabama, near the border of Genesee and Orleans counties, when he lost control and struck mailbox and oncrete posts, a tree stump and a bridge structure, He continued driving north in in his badly damaged car, deputies added.
Deputies in Orleans County charged him with driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He also faces traffic charges in Genesee County, authorities said.
