An audit by the State Comptroller’s Office has found that the Village of Lyndonville in Orleans County overpaid two village workers by $6,875 for unused leave time.
The state audit also found that the Village Board’s personnel policy did not clearly define the terms and conditions regarding eligibility for accruing leave or paying departing employees for unused leave time.
In addition, the board has not adopted written policies and procedures for the retention and safeguarding of personal, private and sensitive data that is stored by the village electronically.

“These audits are tools for local officials to make sure proper policies and procedures are in place to protect taxpayer dollars and provide the best possible service these taxpayer dollars can deliver,” said State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, in a news release Tuesday.
