Eleven volunteer fire companies teamed up early Wednesday morning to keep a Genesee County barn fire from spreading to the nearby main house, authorities reported.
Firefighters responded to a 2:55 a.m. alarm at 4658 Broadway Road in the Town of Bethany, where they found flames showing from the northwest section of the barn.
A passing motorist reportedly spotted the fire, called 911 and alerted the family to the blaze.
Helping fight the fire were volunteers from Bethany, Alexander, Attica, City of Batavia, Town of Batavia, Bennington, Byron, Darien, Pavilion, Stafford and Wyoming.
