An invitation designed by the advertising firm Gelia for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation won the “Best in Show” honor at the recent ADDY Awards hosted by the Advertising Club of Buffalo.
The annual gala, held Friday at the Buffalo Museum of Science, draws together the local advertising community. The theme this year was “The Science of Persuasion.”
Other finalists for the top honor were: White Bicycle for a poster for an Andrew Bird “Lusitania” concert; Crowley Webb for Friends of Night People poster; Gelia for Ultra Lube clear mailer; and Crowley Webb for Irish Classical Theatre Company “The Wake” website.
Crowley Webb received 24 ADDY Awards, the most of any firm (six gold and 18 silver). Gelia earned 14 (three gold and 11 silver), White Bicycle seven (three gold and four silver) and Hadley Exhibits three (two gold and a silver).
Other winners included: The Martin Group (a gold and four silver); SKM Marketing Group (a gold and two silver); McDade Media (a gold and two silver); Cynergy (a gold); First + Main Media (a gold); Print Collection (a gold); Travers Collins (three silver); and Telesco Creative Group (two silver).
The following received Judges Choice Awards: Gelia for a 2012 poster campaign for Smiling Ted’s used cars; White Bicycle for Spain Rodriguez exhibition catalog for Burchfield Penny Art Center; Crowley Webb for Fireworks poster campaign for Skylighters Fireworks; and Crowley Webb for The Wake website for Irish Classical Theatre Company.
Crowley Webb received the xpedx Creative Use of Paper Award for the Praxis holiday card.
The 2013 individual award winners were: Rebecca Farbo, Phillips Lytle LLP, the Odysseus Award for strategic use of marketing and advertising; Jim Charlier, JCharlier Communication Design, the David I. Levy Communicator of the Year Award; Bill Paterson, Gelia, the Alex Osborn Award for Creativity; Tina Pastwik, Advertising Club of Buffalo, Advertising Club of Buffalo Service Award; and Lillian Selby, Crowley Webb, Future Star Award.
