NORTH TONAWANDA – Josh E. Dubs, the endorsed candidate for city attorney for the Working Families Party, will face incumbent City Attorney Shawn Nickerson in the Sept. 10 primary for the party line.
Dubs, in a statement to the media, said he was disappointed, but not surprised, and accused Nickerson of attempting to steal the line from an endorsed candidate. He said he underwent a lengthy interview process with the local leadership.
Nickerson, who is endorsed by the Republican party, submitted petitions to ballot the line, despite not seeking the endorsement. However, Dubs noted, the practice is common.
Other Working Families Party candidates – alderman-at-large candidate Beverly Loxterman and Third Ward alderman candidate Darlene Bolsover – also will face Republican opponents in the primary.
