LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Legislature has voted unanimously to support the allocation of $500,000 of its share of casino revenue to the establishment of an advanced manufacturing facility at the Olean Campus of Jamestown Community College. Without the resolution of support from the Legislature, the project would have been unlikely to garner the needed support from the SUNY system to move forward.

The project will establish an advanced manufacturing facility that would bring in cohorts of between 25 and 40 students. The faculty would teach advanced skills that are needed in area manufacturing facilities.

Incoming Jamestown Community College President Cory Duckworth said his campus is abuzz with energy to see the project heading in a positive direction.

“I really want to express my appreciation in a unanimous vote on the project,” he said to the members of the Legislature. “This is a project that has been in the works for years. I am proud that my first major project as part of the college is a unanimous success. I thank you for all of your support.”

The committee will meet next Wednesday in the large committee room adjacent to the Legislative Chamber. The next meeting of the full Legislature is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Third-Floor Legislative Chambers of the Little Valley County Center, 303 Court St., Little Valley.
